Prologue
Borrowed Summer
I knew I’d meet the man I grew up hating when my best friend announced her wedding. He’s her brother, after all. Except I didn’t expect him to remind me of the one night we spent tangled in dirty bedsheets. He remembers the good part. I can’t look past what led me into his arms. He became my refuge for one night, and I promised myself I’d never let it happen again. Except he has other plans. He’s around. Lingering. Always watching. Waiting for me to slip. And the moment I do, I know he’ll consume me past every boundary I built to keep him out. Because Kabir Sabharwal doesn’t want to be the hero of your story. He wants to be the villain you can never escape, the man who claims you and makes sure you never find your way back out.
